This unique web series is probably the first such venture that highlights the spiritual philosophy as experienced and described by Vivekananda and Paramhansa Yogananda. It remains a big question, how no one has thought of bringing the lives of these two masters on the celluloid or on the web before. In fact, the web series “Two Great Masters” is also not a straightforward biographical account of the lives of the two great masters. It rather showcases their philosophical and spiritual perspectives of life through present time characters.
On an auspicious day of World Vegetarian Day, which is observed every year on 1 October, it is perhaps a perfect time to look inward and ask ourselves whether we really need to kill animals and eat them! Time to think if this is required at all for us humans to eat meat! Let’s just for a while go into the history of the World Vegetarian Day! This day was established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS). Since then, this day has been observed across the world with a powerful message of compassion and kindness towards animals. Though, the progress is a little slow but surely enough, the vegetarians and vegans are growing in numbers across the world!
India’s Leading Charitable Spiritual Organization, Go Spiritual India has launched nationwide ‘Go Vegetarian’ campaign this World Vegetarian Day. Go Spiritual India is a charitable spiritual organization working for Philanthropy, Spiritual awareness, Social causes, spiritual tourism, media, organic, spiritual events, mental health & wellness. Go Spiritual India has been campaigning on the issue and appealing to the whole lot of conscious people to adopt vegetarianism as the way of life.
Go Spiritual India is founded by award winning writer / director and producer Sonu Tyagi who has his background in Film, Journalism, Advertising and Psychology. He is also heading India’s Leading Films Productions & Celebrity Management Company, Approach Entertainment. He has been associated with the spiritual world for a long time. Go Spiritual India will reach out to world people on a large scale through Media, social media & digital, films, events & its volunteers across the world. The objective will be to promote vegetarianism, kindness to animals & Indian spirituality in the World. The organization is also launching Go Spiritual India Digital magazine soon and plans to launch print magazine and Go Spiritual India web TV later.
One typical question that may come to anyone’s mind is what connection does spirituality have with vegetarianism? Besides being totally avoidable violence and cruelty to the animals meat industry leaves very strong negative footprint on our ecosystem and sustainability. The Indian concept of spirituality is based on a firm understanding that all living beings have soul, the Atma, which is actually part and parcel of Param Atma the Supreme being or what we can call God. As all the souls are part and parcel of same Param Atma, they are all linked to one another in a way. Spirituality is basically a journey of evolution and growth of consciousness with the ultimate goal of merging the Atma with the Param Atma as one! Hence compassion and detached love towards all living beings is very important part of anyone’s spiritual journey!
Eating healthy and eating guilt free is integral part of spiritual journey! Whether one accepts it or not, slaughtering animals for food and then eating the dead carcases of them does bring in a sense of guilt. A truly compassionate person will always feel guilty even if that guilt is there only in his subconscious mind.
The guilt acts as a barrier in one’s spiritual growth. Spirituality leads us to respect the entire creation of God, the nature and it needs to be remembered that animals are integral part of the nature. Kindness towards animals is borne from the innate compassion that humans possess though they may be deliberately ignoring that innate quality within us.
It is with this understanding that Go Spiritual India has been promoting and advocating vegetarianism and kindness to the homeless animals in India. On the occasion of World Vegetarian Day, Go Spiritual India plans to carry forward this campaign even wider and across the world. It may be recalled that Go Spiritual India is a leading spiritual and social service organisation engaged in social service, spiritual awareness, spiritual tourism, media, organic, mental health and wellness.
Therefore waging a campaign against presence of dead animals in someone’s food plate is of an innocent or innocent person in its food plate, Go Spiritual India insists on adopting vegetarianism. Holding the torch of philanthropy and spirituality, ‘Go Spiritual India’ emphasises on the service towards the poor and the underprivileged ones including the animals. Spirituality teaches us to be kind not only to mankind but to the whole nature. It teaches us to respect the nature and the entire creation of the Supreme Being, the God.
Founder of Go Spiritual India, and a writer/filmmaker/director, Sonu Tyagi is highly committed towards this mission. He reiterates that this organisation has been established on a mission mode and his basic objective is to spread awareness towards the greatness of Indian culture and traditions in respect of spirituality and compassion. He says that the Organisation will take its spiritual philosophy as well as ‘Go Vegetarian’ campaign after India to the world level. Through the Go Vegetarian campaign, people will be encouraged to be vegetarian and have compassion for the animals.
The organisation will also engage volunteers from the media, social media from across the world and also make digital content and films on a large scale towards this mission. It may be recalled that Go Spiritual India is already engaged in charity and social work towards eradication of hunger eradication and distribution of essential items for the poor like blankets etc. This campaign has been named Bhookh Mitao Campaign through which food is being distributed to the hungry and needy people. Along with food distribution for free, the organisation is also encouraging people to donate food items. Fortunately, this work of the organisation is supported and aided by several corporate organisations and spiritual persons.
Every year, before the onset of winter, Go Spiritual India also runs a blanket donation campaign for the homeless people, especially in the major cities and towns of North India. The organisation has already conducted blanket donation campaigns in Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Jammu, Jalandhar, Shimla, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and other cities. The condition of homeless people remains very pathetic in the harsh winters and many people also lose their lives due to extreme cold conditions that prevail in the Northern India region during the winter months. For the distribution of blankets and other warm clothes, volunteers join hand with the Go Spiritual India in a big way. People from across the country contribute and cooperate in the auspicious work of blankets and food distribution. Even several Bollywood celebrities have also supported the campaign.
Along with service towards the mankind, Go Spiritual India has made a strong case towards showing compassion to animals. This message of mercy towards the animals is getting notable support and many people are taking to vegetarianism and besides that also to adopting the compassion for all living beings.
‘Go Spiritual India’ is rapidly gaining fame through its philanthropical and spiritual activities. All the campaigns taken up by Go Spiritual India are getting popularity as well as the financial and logistic support from the people and therefore the organisation has gained a lot of momentum in recent time, reminds Tyagi. Gradually, the scope of ‘Go Spiritual India’ philanthropy is also expanding and helping hands are also coming forward. Many social workers have actively joined hands with the organisation and they are sincerely involved in activities ranging from collecting food to mobilising support for blanket donation. This time the mission ‘Go Spiritual India’ has targeted non-vegetarian food while calling for making the whole world free from meat-eating.
Tyagi stresses that efforts are being made to create a buzz to remove non-vegetarian food from people’s plates. He feels that consumption of non-vegetarian food is a health hazard and is the root cause for many diseases. He reminds that the ecological footprint caused by the meat trade is also very dangerous. He adds that any effort to justify taking animals’ lives with any is nothing but hypocrisy.
According to well known Social activist Prem Agrawal who is also associated with Go Spiritual India, the human bodies are not made by the nature to consume or digest meat. He reminds that while the carnivorous animals don’t chew but bite and gulp the food without chewing, all herbivores chew the food. Similarly, the humans also chew their food before ingesting simply because they have been made vegetarian by the nature. He also points out that as per the concepts of Ayurveda the ancient Indian system of medicines, vegetarian food is the food and this concept is also supported strongly by the Yoga in order to stay healthy. According to the Yoga concept, Human physiology is such that it is necessary to chew food before ingesting it and therefore the human body structure is not meant to eat meat. However a large percentage of people still consume meat across the world merely to satisfy their taste buds and to fulfill their temptation and greed.
Yoga Guru Navdeep Joshi believes that it is very easy to recognise that the human body is made for vegetarianism. If one keeps a spoonful of boiled rice or a piece of roti in the mouth without chewing it without any spices, then its taste becomes sweet in no time. Because the process of digestion of food starts from human saliva itself. This doesn’t happen with any carnivorous animal. In their case, process of digestion begins after the food reaches the stomach. The teeth structure of the humans also augment this argument that humans have been created as natural vegetarians by the nature.
Tyagi has appealed to all to remove meat from their food plates and instead switch over to healthy food which is naturally vegetarian.
